How it works

Three steps. One rig a month.

01

Enter your rig

Six photos, your vehicle details and a few lines about where it goes. Entry is free.

02

We shortlist three

Our judges pick three builds in the week after entries close and post them on our channels.

03

One rig wins

Winners are announced monthly, featured across Opposite Lock, and get the voucher.

What the judges look for

Skill, not luck.

Every entry is scored on four things, equally weighted.

01

The build

How complete it is, how well it's put together, and how well it suits what you use it for.

02

The story

Where it goes and what it does. A working bakkie counts as much as an expedition rig.

03

The photos

All six shots, in decent light, following the photo guide.

04

The kit

How Opposite Lock-stocked products earn their place on the vehicle.

Followers, likes and shares don't count, and there's no public vote.

Photo guide

Six shots. No people.

Good photos don't need a good camera. They need the whole rig, in decent light, with nobody in the way.

Camera positions: 1 front three-quarter at the front right corner, 2 straight in front, 3 at the side, 4 straight behind, 7 at the rear right corner (optional). 6 is a close-up of fitted kit at the front. 8 is the set-up at the rear (optional). Not accepted

  • People of any kind, including faces in windows or reflections.
  • Anything lewd or offensive, including stickers and decals on the vehicle.
  • Unsafe or unlawful driving, or driving where vehicles aren't allowed.
  • AI images, filters, collages, text, watermarks or screenshots.

Better photos

  • Shoot in the first or last hour of sunlight.

  • Crouch to headlight height.
  • Clear bins and other vehicles out of the background.
  • Wipe the lens, and turn the phone sideways for vehicle shots.

FAQ

Good questions.

Does it cost anything to enter?

No. Entry is free and there's nothing to buy.

Does my rig have to be fitted at a fitment centre partner?

No. Self-fitted builds are welcome, as long as at least one product on the vehicle is stocked by Opposite Lock.

What counts as an Opposite Lock-stocked product?

Brands like Tough Dog, Lightforce, Intervolt, EcoFlow, Direction Plus, OL Premium Bars and 4×4 Equip. If you're not sure, add it under Other and we'll check.

Why can't there be people in the photos?

It's about the rig. It also means we can share the photos without needing permission from everyone in them.

Will you publish my number plate?

No. We cover number plates before anything is published.

Who owns my photos?

You do. When you enter, you give Opposite Lock permission to share them on our channels, always with credit to you. You can ask us to take a post down at any time.

Can I enter again if I don't win?

Yes. One entry per person per month, and you can enter again in a later month.

What happens to my details?

We use them to run the competition and contact you if you're shortlisted. We only send you marketing if you tick the box for it. The privacy notice has the detail.
