Opposite Lock
Privacy notice
Version 1.0 · 17 September 2026
Who we are
Opposite Lock runs Rig of the Month. The responsible party for the personal information you give us on the entry form is Resolve Skill Works (Pty) Ltd t/a Opposite Lock Africa (registration number 1999/015833/07), RSC Building, 30 Industry Road, Clayville, Olifantsfontein. Contact us at info@oppositelock.co.za or 011 697 0001.
What we collect
When you enter, we collect your first name, surname, email address, mobile number, town and province; your vehicle's make, model and year; the products fitted; your photos and the story you write; and, if you give them, the fitment centre partner that did the work and your social media handle. We also record the date and time of your entry, the consent choices you made, the version of the rules you accepted, the web address you arrived from (including campaign tags) and your browser type.
Why we collect it
We use your information only to run the competition: to check that you're eligible, judge your entry, contact you if you're shortlisted or win, issue the prize, and publish results as the competition rules describe. We publish a shortlisted or winning entry using your first name, town and vehicle only, unless you agree to more.
Marketing is your choice
We only send you Opposite Lock news and offers if you tick the marketing box on the entry form. Not ticking it makes no difference to your entry. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
Who processes it for us
Your entry is stored and handled by service providers working on our instructions: Supabase (entry database and private photo storage), Make (automation), Zoho (our customer records) and, only if you opted in to marketing, Mailchimp (email). Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. We use them under terms that require an adequate level of protection, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. We don't give your details to fitment centre partners. If you win and told us which fitment centre partner fitted your products, we may name that partner alongside your rig.
Your photos
Your photos are kept in private storage. Only the Opposite Lock team running the competition can see them until an entry is shortlisted. You keep ownership of your photos. The competition rules explain the licence you give us to share them, always with credit, and how to ask us to take something down.
How long we keep it
We keep entries for 12 months after the month you entered closes, then delete them. Shortlisted and winning entries are kept for the licence period in the rules. Judging records are kept for three years. If you opted in to marketing, we keep your contact details until you unsubscribe.
Security
Entries go straight to a database that the public website can write to but can't read back. Photos go to private storage that isn't publicly viewable. Only named Opposite Lock staff can sign in to see entries.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, by emailing info@oppositelock.co.za. Deleting your entry before the winner is announced withdraws it from judging. You can object to marketing at any time. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za or 0800 017 160.
