Opposite Lock

Competition rules

Version 1.2 · 17 September 2026

Supersedes the Entry T&Cs draft v1.1 (8 July 2026). Items in square brackets need confirmation by the legal reviewer or Marketing before publication.

The short version (published above the full rules)

Enter your Opposite Lock-fitted rig. Each month we pick a shortlist of three and one winner, judged on the build, the story and the photos. It's skill, not luck, and entry is free. The winner gets a R3 500 Opposite Lock voucher, which can be used at any Opposite Lock fitment centre partner or on oppositelock.co.za. When you enter, you let us share your photos on Opposite Lock's channels, always with credit. Your details stay private, and we only send you marketing if you tick the box asking for it. Photos must follow the photo guide: six set shots, no people, nothing lewd or offensive. Full rules below.

1. The promoter

1.1 The promoter is Resolve Skill Works (Pty) Ltd t/a Opposite Lock Africa, registration number 1999/015833/07, of RSC Building, 30 Industry Road, Clayville, Olifantsfontein ("Opposite Lock", "we", "us").

1.2 Questions about these rules or the programme: info@oppositelock.co.za or 011 697 0001.

2. The programme and its dates

2.1 Opposite Lock Rig of the Month ("the programme") is a monthly recognition competition for vehicles fitted with products stocked by Opposite Lock. Each calendar month is a separate cycle.

2.2 Unless a different date is published on the entry page for that cycle, entries for a cycle open at 00:01 (SAST) on the first business day of the month and close at 23:59 (SAST) on the 20th of that month.

2.3 The first cycle (October 2026) runs as follows: - entries open Thursday 1 October 2026 at 00:01; - entries close Tuesday 20 October 2026 at 23:59; - the shortlist of three is published on Friday 23 October 2026; - the winner is announced on Friday 30 October 2026.

2.4 The second cycle (November 2026) opens Monday 2 November 2026, closes Friday 20 November 2026 at 23:59, and the winner is announced on Thursday 26 November 2026.

2.5 For later cycles, the shortlist is published in the week after entries close and the winner is announced on or about the last Friday of the month. The exact dates for each cycle are published on the entry page before that cycle opens.

2.6 Entries received after a cycle closes are not carried over. The entrant is welcome to enter again in the next cycle.

3. Who may enter

3.1 Entry is open to natural persons who are 18 or older and resident in South Africa.

3.2 The vehicle entered must be fitted with at least one product stocked by Opposite Lock, named in the entry. Any Opposite Lock partner brand qualifies.

3.3 The entrant must own the vehicle, or enter it with the owner's written permission.

3.4 The following people may not enter: directors, members, partners, employees, agents and consultants of Opposite Lock; anyone who supplies goods or services to Opposite Lock in connection with the programme, including the judges and any agency involved; and the spouse, life partner, parent, child or sibling of any of these people.

3.5 Opposite Lock fitment centre partners are independently owned businesses. Their owners and staff may enter a vehicle that they personally own, but not a demonstration, company or customer vehicle held by the business. A fitment centre partner may encourage a customer to enter, but the entry must be submitted by the customer.

3.6 No purchase is required during the entry period. The qualifying product may have been fitted at any time, by a fitment centre partner or by the entrant. Entry is free, and data costs are the only cost of entering.

4. How to enter

4.1 Entries are submitted only through the official entry form at https://ol-rig-of-the-month.lovable.app. Entries by email, WhatsApp, social media message or comment are not accepted.

4.2 A complete entry includes: - the entrant's first name, surname, email address, mobile number, town and province; - the vehicle's make, model and year; - the Opposite Lock-stocked product or products fitted; - the six required photographs set out in the photo guide, and up to two optional photographs; - a short account of the vehicle: where it has been, what it carries and what is next (between 150 and 800 characters); - optionally, the fitment centre partner that did the work, and a social media handle for credit; - the declarations in clause 4.4.

4.3 One entry per person per cycle, and one vehicle per entry. An entry that is not shortlisted may be entered again in a later cycle. A vehicle that has won may not be entered again for 12 months.

4.4 By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms that: - the photographs are the entrant's own, or were taken by someone who gave permission for their use; - no person appears in any photograph; - the entrant owns the vehicle or has the owner's written permission to enter it; - the information in the entry is true; - the entrant has read and accepts these rules, including the photo guide and the licence in clause 7.

4.5 Opposite Lock is not responsible for entries that are lost, incomplete or delayed because of a network, device or upload failure. An entry counts as received when the entrant sees the on-screen confirmation.

5. Photographs

5.1 The Opposite Lock Rig of the Month photo guide, published on the entry page, forms part of these rules.

5.2 Every entry must include six photographs: front three-quarter, front, side profile, rear, one taken away from home ("out there") and a close-up of at least one Opposite Lock-stocked product fitted to the vehicle. A rear three-quarter photograph and a set-up photograph are optional.

5.3 No photograph may show a person, whether the driver, a passenger, a bystander, or a face in a window or reflection.

5.4 No photograph may contain nudity, sexual content or anything lewd, including stickers and decals on the vehicle; offensive or discriminatory language, gestures or symbols; weapons; or alcohol or drug use.

5.5 No photograph may show unsafe or unlawful driving or use of the vehicle, including driving in areas closed to vehicles, stunts, or a visibly overloaded vehicle.

5.6 Photographs must be real and unaltered, apart from cropping, straightening and light exposure correction. AI-generated or AI-altered images, filters, borders, text, collages, watermarks and screenshots are not accepted.

5.7 Opposite Lock may ask an entrant to replace a photograph that does not meet this clause. An entry that still does not comply may be excluded from judging. Opposite Lock does not edit people or other content out of entry photographs on an entrant's behalf.

5.8 Before publishing any photograph, Opposite Lock covers the vehicle's number plate.

6. Judging

6.1 This is a skill-based competition judged on merit. No part of the result depends on chance.

6.2 A judging panel appointed by Opposite Lock, of at least two people, assesses each eligible entry against four criteria, equally weighted: - the build: quality, completeness and how well the set-up suits its use; - the story: where the vehicle goes and how it is used in real conditions; - the photographs: how well they follow the photo guide and show the vehicle; - the kit: how Opposite Lock-stocked products are used in the build.

6.3 The panel selects a shortlist of three and one winner from the shortlist. Where scores are tied, the panel's chair decides.

6.4 The number of entries a person gets, their social media following, likes and shares do not count. There is no public vote.

6.5 The judges' decision is final. Opposite Lock keeps a written record of the scores for each cycle for at least three years.

7. Use of entry material (licence)

7.1 The entrant keeps ownership of all photographs and text submitted.

7.2 By entering, the entrant grants Opposite Lock a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce, crop and publish the entry photographs and story, and the entrant's first name, town and vehicle, on Opposite Lock's marketing channels. These include social media, email, WhatsApp, the Opposite Lock websites and printed material at Opposite Lock events and fitment centre partners. Opposite Lock always credits the entrant by first name or by the social media handle supplied.

7.3 The licence runs for 24 months from the close of the cycle entered. Material already printed or published in a feed before a takedown request may remain in place, but will not be reused.

7.4 An entrant may ask for a specific published item to be taken down by writing to info@oppositelock.co.za. Opposite Lock will act on reasonable requests within 10 business days.

7.5 Being shortlisted or winning does not oblige anyone to take part in any further publicity, interview, video or event. Any such participation is by invitation only, and the entrant may decline without losing the prize.

8. The prize

8.1 Each cycle has one prize: an Opposite Lock voucher to the value of R3 500.00 (VAT inclusive).

8.2 The voucher can be used against products stocked by Opposite Lock, and fitment where offered, at any Opposite Lock fitment centre partner in South Africa, or against purchases on oppositelock.co.za.

8.3 The voucher is valid for six months from the date of issue. It cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred, and must be used in a single transaction.

8.4 The right to the prize vests in the winner when the judges' decision is made. It is not subject to any further condition or payment. If the winner's purchase costs more than the voucher value, the winner pays the difference, which is a choice about the purchase and not a condition of receiving the prize.

8.5 Opposite Lock notifies the winner by email and phone within two business days of the decision, and sends the voucher by email within five business days of the winner confirming their details. The winner must respond within 14 days of notification.

8.6 If the winner cannot be reached within 14 days, declines the prize, or is found to be ineligible, the prize may be awarded to another shortlisted entrant in order of the judges' scores.

8.7 Opposite Lock may ask the winner to show identification before issuing the voucher, only to confirm eligibility. Opposite Lock does not keep a copy of the identification.

9. Announcing results

9.1 The shortlist and the winner are announced on Opposite Lock's social media channels and on the entry page, using first name, town and vehicle only, unless the entrant agrees in writing to more.

9.2 Where the entrant supplied it, the fitment centre partner that fitted the products may be named alongside the winning vehicle.

10. Personal information (POPIA)

10.1 Opposite Lock is the responsible party for personal information collected through the entry form. We collect name, email, mobile number, town, province, vehicle details, fitted products, photographs, the entry story and, if supplied, fitment centre partner and social handle.

10.2 We use this information to run the programme: to check eligibility, judge entries, contact shortlisted entrants and the winner, issue the prize, and publish results as described in clauses 7 and 9.

10.3 Marketing is a separate choice. Opposite Lock sends marketing only to entrants who tick the optional marketing box on the entry form. Not ticking it has no effect on the entry or the judging. Every marketing message carries an unsubscribe link.

10.4 Entry information is stored with service providers who process it on our instructions: Supabase (entry database and photo storage), Make (automation), Zoho (customer records) and, for entrants who opt in to marketing, Mailchimp (email). Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. We use them under agreements that require an adequate level of protection, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

10.5 We don't sell entrant information or share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not share it with fitment centre partners, except to name a winner's fitment centre partner as described in clause 9.2.

10.6 Entry information is kept for 12 months after the close of the cycle entered and then deleted. The exceptions are the shortlisted and winning entries, kept for the licence period in clause 7.3; the judging records kept under clause 6.5; and contact details of entrants who opted in to marketing, kept until they unsubscribe.

10.7 Entrants may ask to see, correct or delete their personal information by writing to info@oppositelock.co.za. Deleting an entry before the winner is announced withdraws it from judging. Entrants may complain to the Information Regulator at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za or 0800 017 160.

10.8 The full privacy notice is published at https://ol-rig-of-the-month.lovable.app/privacy.

11. General

11.1 Opposite Lock may disqualify an entry that is incomplete, misleading, unlawful or inconsistent with these rules, or that was submitted by automated means.

11.2 Opposite Lock does not endorse, inspect or certify any modification shown in an entry. Featured vehicles are the entrants' own builds, and nothing Opposite Lock publishes about them is a statement about the safety, legality or roadworthiness of any modification.

11.3 Opposite Lock may amend these rules, or suspend or end the programme, with reasonable notice on the entry page. A change does not affect a cycle that has already closed, and no change reduces the prize for a cycle that is already open.

11.4 To the extent that the programme is a promotional competition under section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, these rules are intended to comply with that section and its regulations. A copy of these rules is available free of charge on the entry page and by request to info@oppositelock.co.za.

11.5 These rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
